Default Root password recovery

If anyone can help......?
Have acquired an RS6000 M80, but root password was not supplied. Am trying to recover using the AIX software (4.3.3) discs, and after setting the CD-ROM in the boot list, am now getting a OPD message of "0637 U0.1-P1/Z2", and system just hangs. The only ref. I have found so far is that 0637 may be linked to a power fault on the SCSI adapter!
Any other details and components available if required to assist?
Cheers.

Default Root password recovery

Now that I am away from school, I have finally started to use my dual boot instead of lap computers. In doing so, I realize that the root user password is not the same as the standard login password, and so I am wondering does CCIT put on a special password?
